Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then found multiple other marked vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police say initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any physical harm in association with the incident," they added.
City officials said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.
An important official said the attack made him speechless and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
